General Information

VOX magazine is published quarterly

(NB the January 2013 edition was brought forward in order to produce a Christmas edition but we will be returning to our usual schedule after that).

While all submissions will be considered, for longer items we recommend that you contact the Editor in advance as content plans may be finalised up to four weeks prior to final copy deadlines.

Submissions Welcome Under The Following Headings

(awl = average word length)

  • Your VOX (letters to the editor) – awl 150
  • My Story (short personal story or testimony) – awl 250
  • VOX views (opinion pieces, thought-provoking discussion starters) – awl 400 – 600
  • VOX interviews (Q&A format) – awl 800 – 1000
  • VOX special features (in-depth articles on major issues affecting society and the Church) – awl 800-1500
  • VOX shorts (short, relevant news items relating to Ireland – could include latest statistics, special events or new initiatives, breaking news, etc.) – awl 150-300
  • VOX reviews (music, books, film, theatre, etc.) – awl 200-300
  • Top five websites - one or two sentence reviews of readers' favourite websites

Preference will be given to articles supplied with high resolution, high quality images.  Note: The editor reserves the right to shorten articles that exceed the requested word length. Major editing will only be carried out in consultation with the author. 

 
Target Audience(s)

The core group targeted with VOX magazine are active Christians, aged 25-50 from a wide cross section of denominational and church backgrounds.  

Through inclusive language and content, we aim for our magazine to be readable by those who are interested in issues of faith or exploring Christianity.

 
Content Distinctives

The content is designed to meet the felt needs and address contemporary issues for a wide cross section of Christians in Ireland.

Our content elements are not be limited by a single denomination or doctrinal bias but will enable Christians to engage with a wide range of issues by stimulating respectful and informed debate with reasoned alternatives.

We use inclusive language (avoiding jargon and Christian-ese). Our aim is to ensure all content is forward-looking (reflecting contemporary Christian thinking, wrestling with 21st Century issues and following current and future trends).
