Leprosy in 2014?

  • Irish Aid Volunteering and Information Centre 31 O'Connell Street Upper Dublin 1 Ireland (map)

Leprosy is mostly regarded as a “biblical” disease, but it is one of the neglected diseases of today and affects hundreds of thousands of people across the world. It presents a variety of challenges for governments, organisations, professionals, and, most especially, to those individuals affected by some form of social, economic, physical or psychological aspect of leprosy.

This event is an information/awareness-raising session on development issues related to leprosy and its impact in the world today as well as the extent of the injustice suffered by people infected and affected by leprosy. It will raise perspectives on international developmental issues that deal with leprosy. It is also an opportunity to share information on the impact and the issues that prevent it from being eradicated. This event will also give details about how volunteers can engage with The Leprosy Mission, Ireland.
