An estimated 5,000 people gathered in Dublin’s RDS arena on Sunday 22 July for the Redeemed Christian Church of God’s Holy Ghost Rally. The annual event is a highlight for Ireland’s third largest denomination thanks to a visit from RCCG worldwide General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.

Vibrant worship, passionate prayer and an air of expectation and excitement preceded the ministry of Pastor Adeboye who is affectionately known as Daddy G.O.

Pastor Adeboye, who holds a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, became General Overseer of RCCG in 1981, leading to 30 years of expansion of what is now regarded as the world’s largest Pentecostal movement. In 2008, he was named one of the 50 most powerful people in the World by Newsweek Magazine.

His simple, biblical message focused on the healing of the blind man in John 9 but was interspersed with words of prophesy for people in the congregation.

Following Pastor Adeboye’s ministry, many responded to make first time commitments to Jesus or to re-commit their lives to Jesus. Many shared testimonies of miraculous healing and provision from God.

Here VOX magazine’s Editor Ruth Garvey-Williams brings you a summary of Pastor Adeboye’s message from John chapter 9 (the story of the man born blind):

Pastor Enoch Adeboye - Photo by Peter Osa AmadasunGod has prepared a table before us. God has brought us together and He is doing something new.  New is something that has never been seen before or something never done before or something never heard before.

Jesus saw the man

It was a focused seeing (not just a glance) in the same way Jesus “saw” the woman in Luke 13: 11 - 13 and the man at the pool of Bethesda in John 5: 2 - 9. People began discussing the man’s case. When people begin to talk and when there is controversy, God replies.

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” Is 43: 19

God is not limited in His methodology

Jesus anointed the blind man’s eyes with mud - this was not the same way He healed others. He can do what He wants, when He wants and in the way He wants.  In Matthew 8:1 - 3, Jesus touched the Leper even though the rules said Lepers were “untouchable”. God is not limited in how He will heal or in how He will provide.

God opens blind eyes

God can open blind eyes physically

God can open our eyes to opportunities (2 Kings 4: 1- 7)

God can open our eyes to divine solutions (Ex 15: 23 - 25)

God can open our eyes spiritually to understand our destiny. When our eyes are not opened spiritually, we are fearful.

God can change destinies

Because of an encounter with Jesus Christ, this man’s destiny changed.  Once he was a man born blind but he is still being talked about 2,000 years later. Elisha was supposed to live and die a farmer but ended up becoming a great prophet. Saul the “chief of sinners” became a great apostle.

God can give you a new song to sing

He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Revelation 21:5

Be holy!

God has told me, “You preach the word and leave the miracles to me”. If you want miracles with sin, you don’t want a miracle, you want magic. If the devil gives you magic, you will pay with your soul.

Holiness simply means obeying God. Do whatever He asks you to do and when you know something is contrary to the word of God, don’t do it!
